Fish Farm Technicians (Trainee and Experienced)

Organic Sea Harvest is a multi-award winning salmon farming company based in the North East of the Isle of Skye. We're passionate about the health and wellbeing of our team; the health and welfare of the fish in our care; and about producing the finest quality farmed salmon.


We are seeking candidates with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and who are looking to develop a career in organic salmon farming. Applications are open to those who already have aquaculture and fish farming experience, or to those who are new to the aquaculture industry.


Fish Farm Technicians are at the heart of our business and are responsible for caring for salmon on a daily basis, along with showcasing best management practices. The role involves working at sea on our salmon farms, with a variety of duties including:

  • Monitoring and managing fish health and welfare.
  • Daily environmental checks.
  • Inspection and maintenance of farming equipment and facilities.
  • Boat handling.
  • General farm tasks to keep operations running smoothly.



The normal place of work will be Staffin, North East Skye.

40 hours per week, including some weekend rota and overtime work depending on the needs of company operations.
Salary starting from £25,500 depending on experience, plus overtime paid at 1½.
30 days holiday per annum (inclusive of public holidays) for a FTE.
Attractive pension package available once the probationary period has been completed.
Shared accommodation in Staffin can be arranged for the right candidate.


Ideal candidates will:

  • Have a positive attitude with an interest in farming healthy seafood for people to enjoy.
  • Be required to hold or undertake an ML5 or ENG1 medical certificate.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job.
  • Respect others and safe working practices.
  • Whilst relevant experience is desirable, it is not essential as comprehensive training will be provided.
