Organic Sea Harvest originated from a long held desire by Alex MacInnes to return to his fish farming roots, along with a strongly held belief that it is possible to deliver a world-class product from a small scale independent fish farming operation. This vision was shared by his colleagues and co-founders Robert Gray & Alister Mackinnon,
later joined by Villa Seafood UK.
James Deverill - Managing Director
James joined Organic Sea Harvest in April 2023.
He has previously held management and director positions at Cargill Aqua Nutrition Scotland (EWOS), the Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre and leading UK health & safety business Santia Consulting. James also holds a BSc and MSc in Aquaculture and a PhD in Fish Behavioural Ecology.
Alex MacInnes - Founding Director & Shareholder
Alex has the overall responsibility for the farming operations of the company.
Coming from a long line of fishermen, Alex's late father was one of the first fish farmers in Scotland.
Originally from North Uist and a native Gaelic speaker, Alex has over 30 years’ experience in the aquaculture industry across Scotland and further afield. He is also a self-employed Technical Assessor on behalf of UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service).
Robert Gray - Founding Director & Shareholder
Robert has the overall responsibility for the harvesting and processing operations of the company.
He has been a production manager and factory manager responsible for up to 300 staff and has experience of dealing with major UK retailers.
Ove Thu - Company Chairman
Along with being CEO of Villa Seafood Group, Ove is also representing Villa Seafood UK.
Villa Seafood UK is a joint venture between Villa Seafood Group in Norway, Visscher Seafood from the Netherlands and the principals of Dom International in Canada. Dom and Visscher are family owned companies and Villa is an employee owned company.
All three companies are focusing on organic and sustainable seafood products and have strong market positions.
